The Way

Avalon is a creed, not a political movement. It is compatible with Christianity, Buddhism, and other faiths without requiring or denying a deity.

Why Avalon

In the old legends, Avalon was Arthur’s legendary resting place, and the place from which it was said chivalry would one day return. The name is taken as a declaration that chivalry is needed now.

The path

The Way is an honorable, courageous, difficult path through chaos. It runs parallel to the Tao, or Dao — the idea of a path — without Avalon being Taoism.

To follow The Way is to live in accordance with the principles of chivalry: train the body, sharpen the mind, fortify the spirit, and stand ready to protect what is good. The path is difficult. The standard is high. The purpose is clear.

The Church of Chivalry holds the public creed. The Order is how members live it.

The Tenets

The Daily Way includes having a daily Quest; training the body, mind, and spirit; martial and skill training; sharing knowledge with others; and doing three goods — for someone close, for someone distant or a stranger, and for yourself.
